EXCELLENCE IN LOCAL GOVERNANCE:
  1. Pilot City for Europian Union "Partnership for Democratic Local Governance for Southeast Asia"
    Out of the 122 cities in the Philippines, the city of Bacolod has been chosen for this project which is an undertaking of the Leagu
    e of Cities in the Philippines in partnership with the local Government Development Foundation. Criteria are People’s participation in planning and decision making, transparency, accountability, efficiency, urban environmental development and investment promotion strategically supported by a strong political leadership and good governance.

  2. Best Compliance for Government-Mandated Plans
    Awarded by the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) in collaboration with The United States Agency for  International Development (USAID) in recognition of Bacolod as new growth center in the Philippines based on a scientific tool measuring the ability of the city to generate local income against it population.

  3. Most Business-Friendly City
    Awarded in 2007 by the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in recognition of the city’s rapid growth due to the low cost of doing business, incentives to investors, both local and outsiders and the dynamism of the local economy.

  4. Most Child-Friendly City Regional Awardee and National Finalist.
    Today’s Children, Tomorrow’s Leaders and Greats’ is the message conveyed by this award-winning child-friendly practice in the governance of some barangays and in totality of the City of Bacolod.

  5. Best City Disaster Risk Management
    A national award in recognition of Bacolod City’s systematic readiness in handling crises, emergencies and natural calamities that strike the city,

  6. Best Place To Live in the Philippines
    The April 2008 issue in Money Sense, a Philippine magazine of international circulation cited the quality of life, investment-friendly atmosphere, proximity to recreational/leisure areas, availability of government services cost of living as reasons why it chose Bacolod over Makati and Davao City as the best place to live in the Philippines.

  7. Best Tourism- Oriented LGU
    A regional award for program, particularly in the area of tourism legislation and the meteoric rise in tourism investments, particularly the growth of accommodation establishments, restaurants, transport and other tourist localities that helped a dynamic economy for Bacolod City. The city’s icon festival. The MassKara, has already been invited to participate and has won awards and other promotional effort.

  8. Bacolod Citizen’s Charter
    Bacolod is among the first 6 cities in the Philippines to come up with a manual on government procedures or citizen’s charter designed to improve public service delivery and strengthen transparency and accountability in local governance.

LGU/NGO CIVIL SOCIETY COLLABORATION
  1. Bacolod City Lying-in Clinic
    Quality Maternal and  Child Health Care and Infant Mortality Reduction have been improved because of the Lying-in Clinic establishment and run by the city in partnership with the Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital.

  2. World-Renown MassKara Festival
    Started in 1980 by the city government and then the Department of Tourism Bacolod Field Office, the festival was conceived to highlight the celebration of the city’s charter anniversary and to make it as a tourist come on for the City of Bacolod. It has reached the level of what the original conceptualizers wanted it to be-as top tourist attraction for the City of Bacolod. This government-civic society partnership is now among the well-cited festivals of the world in the web pages and information high way. Also an Anvil Awardee of the Public Relations Society of the Philippines.

  3. Gawad Kalinga Homes
    This non-government approach to community shelter is proof of the confidence of civil society to the poverty alleviation program of the City of Bacolod. Several local government units from other cities and provinces of the country usually request for inclusion in their Bacolod itenerary a visit to Gawad Kalinga Homes for the homeless.

  4. AIDF World Challenge Champion
    The Alternative Indigeneous Development Foundation (AIDF) based in Barangay Mansilingan is the 2010 awardee of the British Broadcasting Corporation selected out of the more than 800 nominations worldwide. The AIDF is the group that has perfected an indigeneous hydraulic ram pump that brings water up to the remote hillside villages without use of electricity.
