Search for Outstanding Teachers On |

The Metrobank
Foundation, Inc. is one again sponsoring the Search for Outstanding
Teachers. The search is undertaken annually by the Metrobank Foundation,
Inc. in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) and the
Commission on Higher Education (CHED). In attaining its objective of
giving recognition to competent and dedicated teachers who devote their
lives to the development of the youth, the Foundation believes teachers all
over the country will be inspired to achieve excellence in teaching. Since
the launching of the Search in 1985, 236 public and private Elementary,
Secondary, Technical Vocational and Higher Education teachers nationwide
have received awards. In general, teachers with full-time status and with full load in the elementary and secondary schools and colleges and universities or higher education institutions who have been actively teaching in the Philippines in the last 10 years may be nominated. Their performance in the last five years should at least be Very Satisfactory. Elementary and secondary school nominees should at least have a bachelor's degree for the higher education category, they should at least have a master's degree. The school selects its officials nominee; each school, including state universities, is entitled to one nominee per category. The nominee accomplishes the 6-pae nomination form which is available at the Metrobank Foundation Inc., all Metrobank Branches and division and regional offices of the Department of Education and CHED. The accomplished nomination form together with the required documents should be signed by the school head and sent or submitted directly to Metrobank Foundation, Inc. or any Metrobank Branch nearest the nominee on or before February 14, 2005. Applications sent by mail should be postmarked on or before February 14, 2005. The original accomplished form plus three photocopies of the same and four colored 2x2 photos are to be submitted. The required attachments are : a) recommendation letter of the school head; b) essay; c) daily/weekly teaching schedule; and d) performance evaluation ratings. Nominations may also be sent through e-mail at foundation@metrobank.com.ph or idlabitad@foundation.org.ph, however the above-enumerated documents must still be submitted to Metrobank Foundation on or before February 28, 2005. Each awardee will receive a medal, a trophy and P200,000 as cash prize; the nominating school will receive a plaque of recognition.
