Japanese Scholarship Invitation Elicits Inquiries |

Due to a large number
of interested parties inquiring about the free scholarship offered by the
Matsumae International Foundation of Japan, the Public Information Office
of the Bacolod City Hall is issuing the following details on the said
offer. The scholarship offered are for fellowship grants in the fields of Medicine, Engineering and Natural Science applicants will be invited to Japan for a period of from three to six months between April 2006 to March 2007. The number of fellowships is about 20 persons. Applicants must not over 40 year years old. They must hold a Doctorate Degree, or have a minimum of two years research experience after the receipt of a Master's Degree qualifications. They must be of non-Japanese nationality, but have sufficient conversational ability in the English or Japanese languages. They should not have been in Japan previously, and should return to their home country upon completion of their research activities in Japan. While applicants are allowed to select their host institutions (university research laboratories, national research institutions, or corresponding facilities in the private industry) in which to carry out their research, they are obliged to obtain acceptance from such host institutions before submitting their applications. The Foundation will provide financial support to successful applicants for their stay in Japan which includes roundtrip economy air fare (most routing from Fellow's home residence to Tokyo), a monthly stipend of JY200,000 for tuition, meals, transportation, research materials, etc, and a lump sum of JY300,000 upon arrival as assistance for lodging and local travel expenses. The financial aid is not available tot he applicant's family or dependents. The course brochure and application forms are available at the Public Information Office at Bacolod City Hall.
