Bacolod
City Mayor Evelio Leonardia recently issued Executive Order No. 06, Series
of 2004, reorganizing the Bacolod City Disaster Coordinating Council (BCDCC)
to enhance its capabilities in times of emergency and disaster.
The chief Executive issued the Order in consonance with
the provisions of R.A. 7160, or the Local Government Code, mandating Local
Chief Executives to establish against any disaster and calamity occurrence
to ensure the welfare and benefit of the people.
Under Executive Order No. 06, the structures,
membership and corresponding duties and responsibilities of BCDCC are
redefined, thus superseding Executive Order No. 21, Series of 2001.
Mayor Leonardia presently heads BCDCC with Vice
Mayor Renecito Novero as Co-chairman. Appointed Vice Chairman/Action
Officer is S/Supt Vicente Ponteras and Mr. Cesar Villa is the Executive
Officer.
Relative to this, the Disaster Operation Center
will be established and will operate 24 hours a day in case of imminent.
The PATROL "117" Bacolod Calling Center shall act as the
communication component of the Disaster Operation Council. As such, it
will be responsible for alerting the BCDCC in case of major emergencies
and disasters.
The Disaster Operation Center shall hold office
with PATROL "117" Calling Center at the annex of the Bacolod
City Tourism building, San Juan St., Bacolod City. (CMO-PIO/dmg)
