The City Agriculture Office ( CAO) luanched the "Gulayan sa
Eskuwelahan" project last September 29 at the Social Hall of the
Department of Education (DepEd).
Two thousand nine hundred seventy-nine packs of
assorted seeds, 305 garden tools and 61 liters of foliar fertilizer were
distributed to various public elementary and secondary schools in the
city.
City Administrator Lorendo Dilag said the 'Gulayan
sa Eskuwelahan" project is being actively supported by the present
administration because this is way of providing Bacoleños
"sustainable life" through vegetable farming.
This project is also supported by Lone District
of Bacolod. Congressman Monico Puentevella who donated the foliar
fertilizer. He was also represented by his son Nicky Boy Puentevella
during the launching rites which was also attended by Sangguniang
Panlungsod members Councilor Thaddeus Sayson with his counterpart Girl
Councilor Charmaine Claire Parreño, and Councilor Homer Bais.
Also present during the launching program were
Executive Assistant for Agriculture Jonan Abao CAO officer-in-charge Romeo
Garcia. Senior Aquaculturist Raquel Sardua and CAO staff and personnel.
Mrs. Milagros Gonzales, Department of Education
Superintendent, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the offices
responsible for the said project as she has great expectations for its success.
