MassKara Festival flies to Shanghai to join
"Festivals of the World"

     Bacolod Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia flew to Shanghai, China this afternoon for the Shanghai Tourism Festival where the MassKara Street Dancers of Villamonte will be featured. The rest of the Philippine delegation will leave later today and will be led by Butch Gerasmo of the Toursim office, Ma. Asuncion Belzunce, Villamonte Barangay Captain Andre Victor Las Piñas and Segundo Jesus “Panoy “ Catalan Jr., choreographer.
     The MassKara Festival has been chosen by the Philippine Consulate General in Shanghai, among other festivals in the Philippines, as the country’s entry to the “ Festivals of the World “ portion of the Shanghai Tourism Festival.
     The media mileage to be generated by MassKara’s participation in this event will surely boost our image abroad and expectedly benefit our tourism industry.
     In a related event, the Commercial Attaché for the Philippine Embassy in Beijing, Jorge Mendoza Judan, will host a luncheon for Mayor Leonardia and party when they arrived. Among the guest to be invited to the luncheon are: The Secretary General of the Shanghai Chamber of Commerce and his Deputy General Managers, the Consul General Jesus Yabes, the Manager of the Philippine Airlines in Beijing and representatives of Metrobank.
     The luncheon will be an investment forum where the mayor will discuss investment opportunities with the Chinese businessmen. Press kits containing information on Bacolod City’s socio-economic profile will be distributed along with an invitation to this year’s Silver MassKara Festival.
