Barangay Sports Dev't. efforts get City's Support

Taking cognizance of the importance of sports development in the grassroots level, the city government of Bacolod steps up assistance to the barangays with more sports materials residents can benefit from.
As of August this year, the office of Executive Assistant Caesar Distrito has facilitated the requests of the barangays, public schools, the Sangguniang Kabataan and barangay-based youth groups for sports materials such as basketballs, volleyballs with nets, chessboards, and even tournament trophies.
At present, some 32 basketballs, 30 volleyballs, and 25 chessboards have been distributed to their respective recipients, which include Barangays 8 and Singcang-Airport, among others.
More sports materials and equipment are expected to be distributed to the barangays as part of an intensified effort of the city government to involve the youth, and the barangay residents as a whole, in worthwhile sports activities.
The office of Distrito also facilitated the requests for medical assistance for indigent patients. The city government has shouldered the purchase of their medicines, which included mostly antibiotics.*(CMO-PIO/jmi)
