City Celebrates "Family Month" in September

    In line with the 10th year anniversary of the International Year of the Family, the City of Bacolod is celebrating "Family Month" in September with the theme, " Building Families with Character; Building Blocks of Every Nation".
     Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia vowed to support the celebration, which includes activities to be participated in by various family-oriented organizations.
     Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) Head Linda Ablanque said the formal launching that will be held on September 13 at the Fountain of Justice, will be folowed by a motorcade and a press conference.
     Media exposure through radio and television will provide more details on the family day activities in the 61 barangays in the city, and the various family fora to be held in both public and private schools.
     The month of September was declared Family Month in Presidential Proclamation No. 60 of former President Fidel V. Ramos. This was further supported by Presidential Proclamation No. 847 declaring the fourth of September as Family Thanksgiving Day with the view to strengthen family unity and solidarity.* (CMO-PIO/dmg)

AUGUST 2004 Archive
