Mayor
Evelio Leonardia led relaunching ceremony of the INSUMIX Feeding Program
for schools at Andres Bonifacio Elementary School I gymnasium.
Some
600 identified malnourished pupils ABES I and II enjoyed the INSUMIX, a
locally formulated protein meal supplement consisting of mongo, rice and
sesame seeds.
First launched in 1996, the INSUMIX feeding program is relevant to the
present administration’s goal of “Rebuilding the City through
Feeding”, and will benefit all elementary pupils in 46 public elementary
schools of Bacolod City.
Leonardia disclosed that due to the budgetary
constraints his administration is now facing, only ABES I and II pupils
are yet benefiting from the said feeding program. “But eventually, this
(INSUMIX Feeding Food Program) will benefit all identified malnourished
pupils,” he assured.
Urban
Basic Services Division (UBSD) record shows that 13% of ABES I pupil’s
population and 23% from ABES II fall under the underweight category. The
feeding program in both schools will be conducted three times a week.
Leonardia said that the children are our nation’s future and saying “I
would be glad to see our schoolers physically healthy.* (CMO-PIO/dmg) |
