Schoolchildren
in the City of Bacolod will now avail of the locally formulated
protein-rich meal called INSUMIX.
To be led by Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia, the
INSUMIX Feeding Program for pupils of A. Bonifacio Elementary
Schools I and II will be launched on Wednesday, August 25, 2004.
Urban Basic Services Division (UBSD) head Ms.
Teresa Galon disclosed the launching rites will be also graced by Mrs.
Elsa Leonardia, who will join Mayor Leonardia in administering the feeding
to some six hundred (600) identified malnourished schoolchildren. Mayor
and Mrs. Leonardia will be assisted by UBSD personnel and the faculty
members of ABES I and II.
The supplemental feeding program is part of the
nutrition program of UBSD to reduce the incidence of malnutrition and
overweight among pre-schoolers and schoolchildren in Bacolod City. It uses
INSUMIX, an indigenous nutrition supplement of mixed monggo, rice and
sesame seeds. *(CMO-PIO/jmi) |
