BACOLOD CITY POLICE TOPPED PERFORMANCE RATING IN REGION 6

The Bacolod City Police Office tops the Over-all Performance Evaluation Rating (PER) in Western Visayas for the first quarter of 2005 with an 851.92 percent rating.

City Police Director Senior Supt. Vicente Ponteras said, “This performance is the result of our commitment and service for the people of Bacolod and most importantly made possible by the support of the city government headed by Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia.”

In close second is the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office with an 848.95 rating followed by Guimaras Provincial Police Office, Aklan Provincial Police Office and Capiz Provincial Police Office in 3rd, 4th and 5th places respectively.

Bacolod City Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia congratulates the city police force for their role in maintaining law and order in the local community as he recognizes them as a vital component of his development plan for Bacolod City.

There were two city police offices, six provincial offices and one regional mobile group were rated on the basis of their performances in the areas of community relations, operations and plans, intelligence and investigation, human resource and doctrine, logistics, personnel, research and development, comptrolship and public perception of the police force.

BACOLOD CITY PEACE AND ORDER COUNCIL TOP RANKING CPOC FOR
HIGHLY URBANIZED CITY

     The Bacolod City Peace and Order Council is among the three (3) top ranking City Peace and Order Council (CPOC) nominees for the Best City Peace and Order Council Award for the Highly Urbanized City category. This information was relayed to Mayor Evelio Leonardia by the Regional Director of the National Police Commission for Region VI Honey Paredes in a letter dated April 19, 2005.
     The Evaluation Team for the said category will be conducting an on-the-spot validation and inspection of the programs, projects and activities of the Bacolod CPOC on April 25 to 28, 2005.
     The team will be composed of Senior State Prosecutor Purita Deynata, DOJ; Engr. Manuel Cortez, PRIMO; Dir. Verulo Mapanao and Atty. Marie Ramonette Cabuso, NAPOLCOM; and 2 other members of the NPOC Secretariat.
     The two contenders for the Best City Peace and Order Award, Highly Urbanized City category, are Davao and Laoag Cities, according to Executive Assistant for POSO (Public Order and Safety Office). Cresecio Palo. He said the accomplishments that will be evaluated will be those from 2002 up to 2005.
     According to Palo, the Bacolod Fire Department, the Bacolod Jail Management and Penology and the Police Community Assistance Center, are among those that will be evaluated. He said at present, at the BJMP, the new water tank amounting to One Hundred Thirty Thousand (P130,000.00), the new building for juvenile detainees and the 26 newly turned-over beds for these young offenders will count among the accomplishments of the BJMP for this year.
