Among the livelihood projects of Barangay 1 is figure-making. These items are being sold all over the province of Negros Occidental.


MISSION
     The Barangay as a systematic body of the councils that were chosen by the people aims to promote:

  1. A good climate for our children

  2. Produce good citizens that will contribute to the development of the Filipino Society, the church and the nation.

  3. Furthermore, it is also aiming for the prosper of our socio economic status.

VISION
     The Barangay envisions itself as a well rounded community that provide:

  1. A good atmosphere to the people

  2. Barangay officials seek assurance to the safety and peace to the community as well as to attend to it needs.

  3. Also to promote a drug free environment especially for our youth which is the future of our country

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
     When Martial Law was declared by the deposed Pres. Ferdinand E. Marcos, it was that barangays has been created.
     The first barangay which was being appointed was Berting Atesor, followed by Eulogio de los Santos. Thru barangay elections he was replaced by Jose Feria in the year 1986-1994 but he died and was replaced by Baltazar Java 1989-1994. 1994-2002, Benita Sarap serves as Barangay Captain winning twice. Last July 2002 election Mr. Sammy C. Gaitan, Sr. won.

LOCATION AND LAND AREA
     Barangay 1 is located at the northwest coast of Bacolod City. Barangay Banago bound  it on the north on the northeast by the barangay Mandalagan, on the east by the barangay 5, on the southeast by the barangay 4, on the south by barangay 3, on the southwest by the barangay 2 in the west by the Guimaras Strait.

     Labor Force or occupation varies such as follows: 30% of which holds a different professions such as teachers, nurses, doctors, accountants, engineers and big or small businessman. 40% are fishermen and market vendors while 30% belonged to self employed such as figurine making, knitting and sari-sari store owners.
     Due to rapid growth of population of barangay 1, we envisioned to give proper education to parents with regards to family planning program, livelihood projects and enable to acquire a LOT of their own through community mortgage program five years from now.
