Mayor
Evelio R. Leonardia said Bacolod City’s proposed budget of 675 Million
for calendar year 2006, has been submitted to the Sangguniang Panlungsod
last October 14.
The 2006 budget is 25 Million Pesos more than
this year’s budget. P264,324,014 is allocated for General Services,
P176,551,466 for Social Expenditures, P87,827,929 for Economic
Expenditures and P146,296,591 for other purposes that may be needed.
In his budget message, the Mayor said revenue
generation must be enhanced by formulating and implementing strategies to
increase collection efficiency. He said we may consider the revision of
the taxation rates in our Local Revenue Code to be comparable with the
local rates imposed by other key cities.
He said one of our paramount concerns of this
administration is Road Networking in order to ease traffic congestion in
the city. The Mayor said that
we must make public transport and transporting of produce easy.
It is one of the most important economic services we can extend to
our people.
The Mayor noted that despite of the busy schedule
during the MassKara, the City Mayor’s Office was still able to submit
the 2006 budget to the SP on time. The
office of City Budget office Luzviminda Treyes is credited for the timely
submission of the 2006 budget. The
city’s budget in this administration is submitted earlier than the 16th
of October deadline. That is
for the purpose of giving the Sanggunian ample time to deliberate on the
budget, he said.
Leonardia pointed out that P28 Million is
allocated for any possible salary increase or other privileges that the
national government may approve for the
city government employees. (PIO/CMO)
