SP asks GMA to declare Oct. 20 as non-working holiday in Bacolod

The Sangguniang Panlungsod recently passed Resolution No. 698 requesting President Gloria Arroyo to issue a presidential proclamation declaring October 20 as a non-working holiday in Bacolod City.

This is in response to Mayor Evelio Leonardia’s request for the passage of such resolution considering that the city’s charter day, which is traditionally a non-working holiday, falls on a Sunday.  Bacolod City will be celebrating its 70th charter day next month.

The Sangguniang Panglungsod stressed that there is a need to declare October 20 a non-working holiday to encourage cooperation, active participation and for the Bacolod residents to commemorate and enjoy the celebration./PIO.
