The
Philippine Southeast Asian Organizing Committee, National Sports
Association and the Malaysian and Singaporean Inspection Teams visited
Bacolod City today to inspect the sport venues of the upcoming 23rd
Southeast Asian Games in November 27-December 5, 2005.
Bacolod City is host to five major sport events of the Southeast
Asian Games:
football, boxing, volleyball and weightlifting.
A brief reception ceremony greeted the technical
inspection teams at the Bacolod airport where they were entertained with a
brief performance of the MassKara Dancers and Gruppo Tribale.
The welcome party include Bacolod First Lady Elsa Leonardia and
Josefa Puentebella, both Co-Chairpersons of the BASOC Support Committee,
City Councilors Homer Bais and Jude Thaddeus Sayson, Sally Ledesma, Virgie
Lopue, Lucy Lizares-Yunque and BASOC Sec. Gen Eric Loretizo.
The teams inspected the West Negros College Gym,
venue for the indoor volleyball and the University of St. La Salle
Coliseum and Ball field, sites for boxing and beach volleyball.
The teams also made a call on Bacolod City Mayor
Evelio R. Leonardia and Congressman Monico Puentebella afterwhich they
proceeded to the Paglaum Sports Complex venue for football games and
closing ceremonies, Bacolod Convention Plaza Hotel for weightlifting and
the Panad Park and Stadium for football games and opening ceremonies. The
teams inspected the accommodation/billeting facilities as well.
The Malaysian delegation was headed by Low beng Choo,
Puah Lei Ling and Macklin Amzah while the Singaporean delegation were
composed of Adam Bin Masbah, Alan Todd Vladich and Kenneth Lim Boon Yam. (CMO/PIO)
