Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia thanked the group that composed the Gearing-Up
Internet and Literacy Access for Students (GILAS) right after the turnover
of the marker and the digital signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA)
that includes eight (8) public high schools in the city.
The eight public high schools that benefited from
the one year free internet connection are: Mansilingan Agro, Sum-ag, Luisa
Medel, Paglaum Village, Singcang, Domingo Lacson, Emiliano Lizares and
Bacolod City National High School.
Leonardia landed the launching of GILAS for their
significant contribution for the well-being of the students. The more for
the advancement of our youth in terms of modern technology should help
them enrich and adapt to global information and to prepare them for tough
challenges that await them in the future, he added.
Furthermore, Leonardia said that this will
certainly help the youth to surge ahead and will harness their potential
thru information technology (IT) education.
The MOA was signed by and between the Mayor,
Luigi Bernas, Program Dir. Ayala Foundation Inc. and member of GILAS
steering Committee, Isabel Urra-Donor Representative, Raquel Cagurangan-Chief,
Administrative Officer of INNOVE Communications, Dr. Milagros
Gonzales-Schools Div. Superintendent, DepEd Bacolod and Principals and
