City Sponsors Scholarship Program

     The Bacolod City Government under the administration of Mayor Evelio Leonardia committed P50,000.0 for the scholarship program of the Alay Lakad Foundation. Recipients of this project are out-of-school-youth from different barangays.
     Mr. John Tupas, Executive Chairman of Alay Lakad 2004 thanks Mayor Leonardia for the city's sponsorship of the scholarship program.
     Tupas met with Mayor Leonardia yesterday, June 7. They discussed the on-going project and other plans of Alay Lakad Foundation for the city. Leonardia is the Honorary Chairman of Alay Lakad.
     According to Tupas, there are 12 scholars undergoing Computer Programming and Welding at NFSP Foundation.
     There are 40 studetns who are being trained in Brgy. Villamonte for Electronic Repair.
     These students are indigents from Brgy. Estefania, Brgy. Villamonte, and Brgy. Alijis.
     The Department of Education (DepEd) under Mrs. Milagros Gonzales and DSSD under Mrs. Linda Ablanque spearheaded the training and education of the students.
     "Hopefully, other out-of-school youths will undergo Cellular Repair and Dressmaking.
     The Lakad Foundation is appealing for donations of any amount for the scholarship program of the out-of-school-youth.  (CMO-PIO/rdp)
