Mayor Support Sought for Projects of Disabled

    
  The City Council for the Welfare of Disabled Person (CCWDP), requested Bacolod City Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia by way of a resolution, for an additional P150 thousand to augment the budget of the council in its various activities and projects of Person with Disability.
     Councilor Ana Marie V. Palermo, CCWDP chairperson, along with its members also proposed a plan to commemorate the National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week projected to be on July 17-23, 2005. The council is requesting the mayor to employ a disabled person or persons to man the PWD desk at the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD).
     Furthermore, the committee endorsed the nomination of Bacolod City for the Local Government Unit (LGU) of the Year category as well as the nomination of Councilor Ana Marie Palermo to Apolinario A. Mabini Presidential Award.
     Bacolod City Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia, through the Office of the Sectoral Concerns, will implement skills training and value formation seminar as capability building tools for Person With Disability (PWD) in the city. Fish deboning and preservation is a priority livelihood program for the disabled sector. The Association of Diasabled Persons in Bacolod has likewise continued its campaign to free ramps from traffic obstruction to provide accessibilty for the disabled persons.
